WHAT IS FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCING

What is Family Group Conferencing?Family Group Conferences provides a model that is child centred where the child’s voice is paramount.
They provide parents and their extended family the opportunity to assume a decision-making role and to take responsibility for developing a plan that will ensure the safety and protection of their children and create a lasting positive change.

The conference can be facilitated for families who are working with Child Protection due to a notification of risk or by choice where complex family dynamics make Family Group Conferencing a more appropriate option for developing a parenting plan than Family Dispute Resolution.

FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCE TRAINING

Family Mediation Specialists have partnered with Australia's leading mediation and Dispute resolution educational Institute -  THE MEDIATION INSTITUTE to deliver Family Group Conferencing Training and Memberships around Australia and the world. This partnership combines my many years of experience in the field as a FGC Facilitator and Family Intervention Worker, with a leading Institute that provides the latest education and qualifications in the field of Dispute Resolution and Community Services.
Training Overview
The goal of the training is to upskill people who have a background understanding of community services work in the Family Group Conferencing process.

The course is divided into three modules:

- Module 1: Theory of Family Group Conferencing delivered through online learning. This is all that is required for people who want to learn about the process but do not want to become certified as a Family Group Conferencing Practitioner.

- Module 2: Practical Workshop delivered as a face to face workshop online. This is required for people who want to become a certified Family Group Conference Practitioner.

- Module 3: VET Statement of Attainment This is for people who want a statement of attainment in Vocational Units related to Family Group Conferencing and is completed within 12 months of becoming a Certified Family Group Conference Practitioner or as an RPL application for non-certified practitioners who can demonstrate competence. VET Certificates and Statements of Attainment are provided by Mediation Institute in partnership with the Registered Training Organisation Inspiritive Pty Ltd.
